The pricing data showed a very clear pattern. From Newborn through Size 4, Pampers consistently had the lower average price per diaper. From Size 5 onwards, Huggies became the cheaper option.

One thing stands out immediately: the crossover at Size 5.

If you average every Pampers and Huggies listing together, Huggies comes out around 6% cheaper overall. But parents don't buy an “average” diaper — they buy the size their baby needs today. That's why comparing prices by size paints a much more useful picture than one blended number ever could.

This comparison focuses on taped diapers, since that's where we have the most listings for both brands. We checked diaper pants too, and the pattern looks different there — Pampers came out cheaper across every size we tracked, with no crossover. But our sample for Huggies pants is thin at several sizes, sometimes just one or two listings, so we'd treat that as an early signal rather than a solid conclusion the way we can for taped diapers.

What Does That Difference Actually Mean?

Take Size 2: Pampers averaged AED 1.15 per diaper, Huggies averaged AED 1.54 — a gap of AED 0.40 per change. A baby in Size 2 typically goes through around 210 diapers a month, so choosing the cheaper brand there could save roughly AED 80 a month, almost AED 1,000 a year. The same pattern shows up again at Size 5, just in Huggies' favour.
